Sometimes I Just Need to Get Quiet and Let Spirit Meet Me There 💜
Lovely friends,
The busier life gets, the simpler I want my spiritual practice to be. I don’t always want a big ritual or a long meditation. Sometimes I just need ten quiet minutes, a few deep breaths, and enough space to remember that I don’t have to figure everything out by myself.
I think when we first start developing spiritually, it’s easy to believe we need to be doing more. We want to meditate correctly, meet our guides, recognize our angels, understand every sign, open our intuition, protect our energy, raise our vibration, and hopefully receive a very clear answer about whatever is bothering us before we’re finished.
That can become a lot of pressure for something that is supposed to help us feel connected.
After all these years of working with Spirit, I’ve become much more comfortable with keeping things simple. I can sit down, take a few breaths, ask that only love and the highest good be present, invite my angels and spiritual team close, and see what happens. Some days I feel a lot. Other days I don’t. I’ve stopped measuring the quality of my spiritual practice by how dramatic the experience was.
That has probably been one of the biggest changes in the way I meditate.
I used to think receiving something was the important part. A message, an image, a name, a sign, some kind of confirmation that I had made the connection. Now I think the connection itself matters just as much. If I spend ten minutes breathing, quiet my mind a little, feel safer in my body, and remember that I’m supported, that was time well spent.
I also think this matters when we’re learning to work with angels and Spirit guides because people put so much pressure on themselves to see them.
You may never see an angel standing in front of you.
I don’t think that means you aren’t connected.
You might experience your spiritual team as a feeling, a thought that seems to arrive from somewhere deeper, a warmth around you, a color in your mind, an unexpected memory, or simply a sense that you aren’t alone. Sometimes you may receive absolutely nothing you can identify in the moment, and then later something makes sense.
Over the years, I’ve learned that Spirit communicates in ways that are often much quieter than people expect.
That’s one of the reasons I like using a familiar place when I meditate. I have returned to the same garden imagery many times because my mind recognizes it. There’s a beautiful old tree there, soft golden light, and that feeling of being somewhere peaceful where I can settle down and listen.
I don’t worry about whether the garden is “real.” It gives my mind somewhere to go while the rest of me gets quiet.
I think guided imagery can work beautifully that way. When your mind has something gentle to focus on, you aren’t sitting there trying desperately to stop thinking. You can follow the staircase, notice the light, walk into the garden, sit near the tree, and allow your body to relax as you go.
Then there is actually room to notice what comes.
When I connect with my spiritual team, I also like setting a very clear intention at the beginning. I ask for my angels, guides, and those working with me in love and for my highest good to be present. That intention helps me settle because I know what kind of space I am creating.
Then I let the experience unfold.
If I’m asking for guidance, I try to keep the question simple. Something like, “What would you have me know right now?” is usually enough. I don’t need to ask seventeen questions and turn my meditation into an interview.
And then comes the part most of us struggle with.
Listening.
Sometimes the first thing that comes seems almost too ordinary, so we dismiss it. Maybe you suddenly think about somebody you need to call. Maybe the word “rest” comes into your mind. Maybe you see a color, an animal, a flower, or something completely random. Your brain immediately wants to know what it means and whether you made it up.
I’ve learned to let the information sit for a while before I tear it apart.
If I receive something during meditation, I might write it down afterward and go on with my day. Sometimes I understand it immediately, and sometimes the meaning becomes clearer later. I’ve had enough experiences over the years where something made sense afterward that I’m much more comfortable allowing a message to unfold instead of demanding an explanation on the spot.
The same goes for signs.
I absolutely believe we can ask Spirit for signs, but I don’t think we need to spend the next twenty-four hours hunting for them. Ask clearly, then go live your life. If something meaningful catches your attention, notice it. If nothing happens, you can ask again or simply trust that you may receive guidance another way.
I think we can make spiritual connection so complicated that we forget we’re building a relationship.
Relationships take time.
You learn how your intuition works. You begin recognizing how certain angels feel to you. You discover the difference between your imagination running wild and imagery that seems to arrive on its own. You notice which signs have personal meaning for you, and you become more comfortable trusting yourself.
That happens through practice.
I also believe closing a meditation and grounding afterward is just as important as opening it. I don’t want to spend twenty minutes floating around in some beautiful spiritual garden and then immediately jump up feeling completely disconnected from my body.
I like coming back slowly.
I bring my attention into my body, feel my feet and legs, move my hands, take a good breath, and pull my energy back in around myself. Sometimes I’ll put my hands over my heart for a moment before I open my eyes. Then I drink some water, write something down if I want to remember it, and continue with my day.
That simple return helps me take whatever I experienced spiritually and bring it back into my actual life, which is really where I want it anyway.
Our spiritual practice has to work while we’re living.
It has to work when the phone is ringing, somebody needs something, there’s laundry sitting there, you have work to finish, and your brain has twelve tabs open. I love beautiful spiritual experiences, but I also want practices I can use on a regular Tuesday when I have ten minutes and need to get myself centered again.
That is exactly why I created my 10-Minute Meet Your Angels & Spirit Guides Meditation.
It’s a short reset where we breathe, create a protected space, move into that peaceful garden, connect with your angels and guides, receive whatever you’re ready to receive, and then come all the way back grounded and present.
If you receive a message, wonderful. If you receive a symbol, write it down and see what unfolds. If you simply feel calmer afterward, I think that matters too.
You don’t have to perform for Spirit.
You don’t have to prove that you’re intuitive.
You don’t have to have an extraordinary experience every time you close your eyes.
Sometimes ten quiet minutes with Spirit is enough.
And sometimes that little bit of quiet is exactly what helps you hear yourself again.
Much love,
Lisa 💜
