Lovely friends,
I have always loved that you can call on Archangel Chamuel for something as ordinary as finding your missing keys and, five minutes later, ask for help figuring out what seems to be missing from your life. I’ve done both, and after more than 20 years of working with angels, I don’t think one request is somehow more spiritual than the other. If I can’t find something and I’m getting increasingly annoyed while walking through the same three rooms over and over again, I’m calling Chamuel. We can discuss my life purpose after we find the thing I was holding ten minutes ago.
That very simple idea of finding is what has always made Chamuel so interesting to me. Yes, we can ask for help finding lost objects, but we lose all kinds of things as we move through life. We lose confidence sometimes. We lose touch with people, interests, dreams, and parts of ourselves that used to feel important. There are also times when nothing has technically been lost, but we have this feeling that something is missing and we can’t quite put our finger on what it is.
Those are Chamuel conversations too.
Who Is Archangel Chamuel?
Archangel Chamuel is commonly associated in modern angel spirituality with love, compassion, peaceful relationships, self-love, and finding what has been lost. You’ll sometimes see the name written as Camael, Kamael, Camiel, Camuel, and several other variations depending on the source you’re reading. You may also find very different descriptions of this angel because the names Chamuel and Camael have been connected and interpreted differently across religious, mystical, occult, and modern spiritual traditions.
I think it’s important to say that because angel history isn’t nearly as tidy as the internet sometimes makes it look. You can open three books about angels and find three different colors, three different crystals, and occasionally three completely different job descriptions for the same angel. These traditions developed across centuries, languages, belief systems, translations, and modern spiritual practices, so I don’t think we need to force everything into one perfect chart.
In my own work, I have come to know Chamuel primarily through the energy of love, peace, compassion, and finding. That’s the relationship I can speak about from experience after years of intuitive work, Reiki, meditation, and working with the angels in my own life. I respect the older traditions surrounding these beings, and I also think there’s value in being clear about the difference between historical tradition and the way many of us experience angels in contemporary spiritual practice.
For me, Chamuel has become one of those angels I can bring into very ordinary life, and I love that.
Yes, I Really Ask Chamuel to Help Me Find Things
If I’ve lost something, I will absolutely stop and ask Chamuel to help me find it. Usually this happens after I’ve reached the stage where I’m positive I’ve already looked everywhere, which almost always means I haven’t actually looked everywhere because now I’m irritated and no longer paying attention.
So I’ll stop and say something like, “Okay, Chamuel, please help me find this.”
Then I try to get quiet for a second instead of continuing to tear the house apart.
Sometimes I’ll suddenly remember where I last had it. Other times I’ll get the urge to look somewhere that doesn’t seem obvious, or I’ll walk into another room and spot it sitting there like it has been personally enjoying watching the whole situation unfold. I’ve had enough of these experiences over the years that Chamuel is genuinely the first angel I think of when something disappears.
Do I think every time I find my keys an archangel has physically moved them into my line of sight? I have no idea, and I’m comfortable saying that. I don’t think spiritual practice becomes less meaningful because we’re willing to leave a little mystery in it.
What I know is that I asked for help, slowed myself down, became more receptive, and found what I needed. That works for me.
And somewhere along the way, I realized I could bring much bigger things to Chamuel too.
Sometimes What We’re Trying to Find Is Ourselves
I think most of us go through seasons when life gets so busy that we slowly disappear from our own priority list. It doesn’t necessarily happen because anything is terribly wrong. We’re working, taking care of people, paying bills, answering messages, dealing with whatever needs dealing with, and keeping the whole machine moving. Then one day we realize we haven’t done something simply because we love it in a very long time.
I’ve had periods like that.
You can have a life you’re grateful for and still miss parts of yourself. Maybe you used to paint, read, travel, garden, go out with friends, take classes, play music, or spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing productive without feeling guilty about it. Maybe you’re doing all the things you’re supposed to be doing and still have this little feeling in the background that you want more of you back in your life.
I think Chamuel is a beautiful angel to bring into that conversation because instead of immediately asking, “What should I do with my entire life?” we can start somewhere much more human.
“Chamuel, help me recognize what I need more of right now.”
That’s a question I can work with.
Maybe what comes up is rest. Maybe it’s creativity. Maybe it’s companionship, adventure, affection, purpose, laughter, or having something on the calendar you’re actually looking forward to. Once we understand what we’re really missing, we have a much better chance of doing something about it.
And I think that’s where working with angels becomes useful instead of becoming another way to wait around for something to happen.
Chamuel, Love, and the Soulmate Question
Of course, Chamuel is strongly associated with love, which means a lot of people first discover this angel because they’re looking for a romantic relationship. I completely understand that. Love is one of the biggest parts of being human, and there is nothing wrong with praying about it, asking Spirit for help, or wanting someone wonderful to share your life with.
Where I get a little cautious is when all of that gets narrowed down to one specific person who has to be the answer.
After doing intuitive readings for so many years, I’ve seen how painful it can become when someone attaches their entire future to what another person chooses to do. We can feel deeply connected to somebody and still have to respect their choices, their timing, their path, and their free will. I don’t believe working with angels is about trying to spiritually convince another person to become the version of them we need.
When I work with Chamuel around love, I prefer leaving enough room for Spirit to see more than I can see.
I might ask, “Please help me move toward loving relationships that are healthy, mutual, supportive, and for my highest good.”
Then we still participate. We meet people. We communicate. We pay attention to how somebody treats us instead of only paying attention to how strongly we feel about them. We learn from past relationships, recognize our own patterns, and get clearer about what kind of relationship we actually want to live inside once the butterflies calm down and somebody needs to unload the dishwasher.
That’s the kind of love I’m interested in.

Love Is Bigger Than Romance Anyway
The older I get, the more I appreciate how many forms love actually takes. Romantic love matters, but so do friendships, family, community, the people who check on us, the person we can call when everything has gone sideways, and those wonderful relationships where we don’t have to explain every part of ourselves before we feel understood.
Chamuel can be a beautiful angel to work with when you’re feeling lonely or disconnected, even if you’re not looking for romance at all. You might ask for help finding your people, reconnecting with someone you miss, or simply becoming more open to the relationships already trying to grow around you.
Sometimes we’re waiting for some enormous spiritual sign while ignoring a perfectly normal invitation to lunch.
I’ve learned to pay attention to the ordinary openings too.
A new friendship may begin because you finally said yes to something. A relationship may deepen because you decided to be a little more honest. Someone may have been trying to get to know you for months while you’ve been busy assuming nobody understands you.
Spirit has a lot more to work with when we actually participate.
Chamuel and Self-Love in Real Life
Self-love is another subject that gets attached to Chamuel, and I think we’ve managed to make self-love much more complicated than it needs to be.
There are days when I feel confident and capable, and there are days when I question myself. After all these years of spiritual work, I have yet to float into a permanent state of complete self-acceptance where nothing bothers me and every decision feels enlightened. If that happens, I’ll let you know.
For me, self-love has become much more about the relationship I have with myself while I’m living my actual life.
Do I listen when I’m exhausted, or do I keep pushing because I think I should be able to do more? Do I say yes when I really mean no because I don’t want somebody to be disappointed? Do I immediately assume everybody else knows better than I do? When I make a mistake, do I talk to myself like a human being who made a mistake, or do I turn it into evidence for every questionable decision I’ve made since 1987?
Those things tell me quite a bit about self-love.
When I work with Chamuel around this, I’m usually asking for help becoming more aware of what I need and more willing to honor it. I also ask for help receiving love, because that’s another part of this conversation that I think gets overlooked. We can spend years asking for more love while batting away compliments, refusing help, questioning people’s motives, and feeling uncomfortable whenever something good comes toward us.
Receiving can be its own spiritual practice.
Finding the Next Opportunity
Chamuel is also an angel I like working with when I know I’m ready for something different but haven’t figured out what “different” looks like yet.
Those in-between periods can be uncomfortable because I like a plan. I like knowing what I’m doing, where I’m going, and preferably having a list so I can check things off as I go. Spirit does not always seem nearly as interested in my preferred administrative system.
Sometimes we only get the next piece.
So instead of asking to see the entire future, I’ll ask Chamuel to help me find the opportunities that fit where I am now and recognize them when they appear. Then I pay attention to what keeps interesting me, what conversations get me thinking, what doors are opening, and what I’m suddenly curious enough to explore.
That doesn’t mean I chase every random idea that crosses my mind. I still look at whether something makes sense for my life, whether I have the time and resources, and whether I’m genuinely interested once the initial excitement wears off.
I’ve found that intuition and common sense work quite well together.
Maybe I feel strongly drawn toward something and decide to investigate it. I read about it, ask questions, take a class, make the phone call, or try the small version before rearranging my entire life around it. That’s often how opportunities grow anyway. We take one step, learn something, and then have more information for the next decision.
I think sometimes we pray for an opportunity and forget that we may have to meet it halfway.
What Does Archangel Chamuel’s Energy Feel Like?
People experience angels differently, and after working with thousands of people over the years, I’m very comfortable saying there isn’t one correct way this is supposed to feel.
Some people are visual. Some feel energy strongly in their bodies. Some hear words or phrases internally, while others experience intuition as a very simple knowing that doesn’t come with much fanfare. You may also have a meditation where you don’t see, hear, or feel anything unusual at all.
That doesn’t mean you’ve failed at connecting.
In my own spiritual practice, I experience Chamuel as warm, compassionate, and peaceful. There is a softness to this energy that I particularly enjoy when I’m working with the heart, relationships, receiving, or anything that has become emotionally tangled.
In modern angel spirituality, Chamuel is frequently associated with pink light, especially soft rose or rosy pink tones connected with love and the heart. If that imagery feels good to you, you can absolutely use it during prayer or meditation. Imagine yourself surrounded by that light, breathe, and allow yourself to settle for a few minutes.
If you see another color, I’m not going to send you back to the beginning.
Your spiritual experience belongs to you.
How I Actually Call on Chamuel
I keep my angel practice pretty conversational, and Chamuel is no exception. If I’ve lost something, I ask for help finding it. If I’m dealing with something bigger, I usually explain what’s going on in exactly the same way I would if I were talking to someone I trust.
You can say something as simple as:
“Archangel Chamuel, please help me recognize what I need right now. Guide me toward the people, opportunities, ideas, and experiences that support my highest good. Help me become more open to love and peace, and help me recognize what Spirit is putting in front of me.”
Then give yourself a little room.
You might want to journal afterward. You might sit quietly for a few minutes, or you might simply go about your day and see what comes up. I don’t think we need to spend the next twelve hours analyzing every song on the radio and every license plate trying to determine whether Chamuel has sent us a coded message.
If something genuinely gets my attention, I pay attention.
If an idea keeps coming back, I explore it.
If an opportunity appears, I look at it and decide whether it makes sense.
That’s how I like my spirituality. I want enough openness for mystery and enough grounding to still live my life.
Crystals I Associate With Archangel Chamuel
I know many of you enjoy working with crystals, and I do too. They aren’t required for connecting with Chamuel, but they can be a lovely physical way of holding an intention during meditation, Reiki, prayer, or journaling.
Rose quartz is probably the crystal most people immediately associate with Chamuel because of its modern spiritual connection with love, compassion, and the heart. I also like rhodonite for emotional balance and compassion, green aventurine when I’m working with opportunities and new possibilities, and pink calcite for gentle heart-centered intentions.
I treat those as spiritual associations rather than scientifically established healing properties. I don’t need a crystal to prove anything to enjoy working with it. If holding rose quartz while I’m meditating reminds me that I’m trying to be gentler with myself, then it’s serving a perfectly good purpose in my practice.
Sometimes the physical object helps us return to the intention.
And sometimes it’s also just a really pretty rock. I’m fine with both.
Chamuel, Reiki, and the Heart Chakra
Because I’m a Reiki Master, Chamuel fits naturally into some of the energy work I do around the heart chakra, relationships, self-love, emotional healing, and receiving.
In modern chakra practices, the heart chakra is associated with love, compassion, grief, forgiveness, connection, and our ability to give and receive love. That’s quite a lot for one energy center to have on its résumé.
When I’m doing Reiki around these themes, I may invite Chamuel into the session along with Archangel Michael, Archangel Raphael, the angels, loving ancestors, and Spirit guides who are present for the highest good. Michael brings that grounding and protective strength I love working with, Raphael supports healing, and Chamuel adds a beautiful intention around the heart, compassion, and love.
I also think it’s important to say that opening your heart doesn’t mean opening your life to everybody.
Love and boundaries belong together.
You can forgive someone and decide you don’t want the relationship back. You can love somebody and recognize that being around them isn’t healthy for you. You can wish someone well and stop volunteering to carry their problems.
Some of the most loving choices I’ve made in my life have included knowing when enough was enough.
When Something You’ve Lost Comes Back
This is an interesting part of working with the energy of finding because sometimes the very thing we thought we had lost comes wandering back into our lives.
An old relationship resurfaces. Someone contacts us. An opportunity comes around again. A dream we gave up on suddenly starts looking interesting. We find ourselves thinking about something we haven’t thought about in years.
I don’t automatically interpret that as Spirit saying, “Here it is! Take it back!”
Sometimes something returns because we’re finally able to see it clearly.
I’ve had enough life experience to know that missing something and wanting it back are not always the same thing. We can feel nostalgic for a person, a job, a place, or a version of ourselves without actually wanting to rebuild our life around it.
So when something returns, I like to ask:
“Does this still fit who I am now?”
That question gives me somewhere useful to go.
Chamuel may help us find something we’ve lost, but we still have free will. We still get to decide what belongs in the life we’re building now.
What Are You Really Looking For?
I think this is where working with Chamuel can become much deeper than finding lost things.
We say we’re looking for a relationship, but maybe underneath that we’re looking for companionship, affection, safety, or someone to share ordinary life with. We say we want more money, and what we’re really craving may be freedom, security, choices, or the ability to stop worrying every time an unexpected bill arrives.
We say we want a different job, but perhaps what we’re searching for is respect, purpose, creativity, flexibility, or simply enough energy left at the end of the day to have a life.
Sometimes we want the old version of our life back because we miss who we were while we were living it.
That’s why I think it’s worth sitting with the question for a little while.
What am I actually trying to find?
Once we know that, we may discover there
Much love,
Lisa Beachy 💜
