Lovely friends,
I have worked with Archangel Michael for years, and somewhere along the way I think spiritual protection got a little out of hand.
Spend enough time online and you can start believing you need to spiritually defend yourself before going to Costco. Everything is a cord. Everything is an attachment. Somebody looked at you funny and now apparently we need sage, salt, six crystals, a protection prayer, and possibly Michael standing at the front door with a sword.
I believe in energy. Obviously. I have spent more than twenty years doing Reiki and spiritual work, and I absolutely notice when an interaction, place, or experience leaves me feeling different. I also don’t want people becoming afraid of the world around them in the name of protecting their energy.
That doesn’t feel very protective to me.
My relationship with Archangel Michael has always felt much steadier than that. I work with him because his energy helps me feel strong in my own space. When I call him in, I am usually looking for that feeling of being grounded, clear, and back inside myself again.
That last part is probably the biggest one.
We spend an incredible amount of time mentally somewhere else. Part of us is still in the conversation we had this morning. Another part is worrying about something happening next week. We are thinking about work while making dinner and checking our phones while watching television. Then somebody sends a text that changes our mood and off we go again.
By the end of the day, I sometimes feel like I need to gather myself from several different zip codes.
That is what “calling my energy back” means to me.
I stop feeding everything else for a few minutes. I put the phone down. I breathe. I notice my body and where I actually am. I ask Michael to help me release anything I am finished carrying and surround me with his protective blue light.
I don’t spend much time trying to identify exactly whose energy is whose.
I used to think I needed to figure everything out. Where did this feeling come from? Did I pick it up somewhere? Is it mine? Is it somebody else’s? What does it mean?
Now I am much more likely to think, I feel lousy. Let’s clear things out and see how I feel afterward.
That has become a much healthier spiritual practice for me.
There are plenty of perfectly ordinary reasons we can feel drained. A loud environment can do it. A difficult conversation can do it. Too much screen time can do it. Being around somebody who complains for an hour can definitely do it. So can being hungry, tired, stressed, worried, overscheduled, or having spent the entire day taking care of everyone except ourselves.
I don’t need to diagnose the energetic origin story before I take care of myself.
I can work with my body and my energy at the same time.
That might mean taking a shower, changing my clothes, eating something, sitting outside, doing Reiki, turning everything off for a while, or asking Michael to help me clear and reset. Sometimes I imagine his blue light moving through my entire energy field and taking anything I am finished with along with it.
Then I think about protection.
For me, protection is where this practice becomes really useful because protection isn’t only something I visualize. It shows up in what I allow.
There are conversations I don’t have to keep having. There are people I don’t need to explain myself to fifteen different ways. There is information I don’t need to consume all day long. There are times when the most spiritually protective thing I can do is close the app.
That may not sound very mystical, but it works.
I think energetic boundaries become much stronger when our real-life boundaries support them. I can surround myself with all the blue light in the universe, but if I continually give my time and attention to something that leaves me depleted, there is probably a practical piece I need to look at too.
Michael helps me with that courage.
I can ask him to stand with me while I say no. I can ask for strength when I know I need to have an uncomfortable conversation. I can ask him to help me separate fear from intuition when I am unsure about something.
And sometimes I simply ask him to help me feel safe enough to relax.
I think that part matters more than we realize.
Protection shouldn’t leave us constantly scanning the room for something to protect ourselves from. I want my spiritual practices to help me participate in life. I want to be able to go places, meet people, work, love people, have experiences, and come home knowing how to clear the day and settle back into myself.
That was really the idea behind my new Grounding, Cleansing & Protection Meditation with Archangel Michael.
I wanted all three pieces together because that is how I actually use them. We ground first and come back into the body. We clear what we don’t need to keep carrying. Then we strengthen the energetic boundary around us so we can move forward feeling more centered and secure.
It’s 45 minutes, so I gave us enough time to actually settle into it instead of racing through the whole thing.
Use it after a difficult day. Use it after spending time somewhere crowded. Use it when you’ve been dealing with somebody else’s emotions and can’t seem to shake the conversation. Use it when you’ve been online too much and your brain feels like it has absorbed the entire internet.
You can also use it when absolutely nothing dramatic happened and you just feel off.
I think that is actually one of the best times to clear your energy. No investigation required.
Just come back to yourself.
